The separate subsidy contribution which it is hoped

that the Government of Kenya would be prepared to make to

the scheme is £9,000 per annum. It has been assessed on

the assumption that the Governments of Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika Territory would be prepared to continue to accept responsibility for the ground organisation within their territories, and to accord to Imperial Airways complete exemption from customs duties on fuel and oil imported for use on the trunk service and to grant to the Company allowances in lieu of free housing and landing facilities. (To Tanganyika If it is not possible to accord these privileges to the Company it would be necessary in consequence to make an equivalent increase in the proposed subsidy contribution.

as compared with current expenditure notwithstanding the

material improvement in service to be obtained therefrom.

6. The annual mail payment in which the scheme would
